Apple May Increase iPhone 17 Series Prices Amid New Design and Feature Upgrades
Apple is reportedly considering a price increase for its upcoming iPhone 17 series, according to a new report by The Wall Street Journal. While the decision hasn’t been finalized, sources familiar with the matter say the price hike will be driven by significant design changes and new feature introductions—not by ongoing US-China trade tensions.

Despite a temporary 90-day pause on additional tariffs between Washington and Beijing, Chinese imports into the US are still facing a combined 30% levy. However, Apple is not linking the potential iPhone 17 price increase to these tariffs, aiming instead to justify the shift with hardware innovation.
One of the standout additions to the iPhone 17 family will reportedly be the iPhone 17 Air, a lighter, ultra-thin model that highlights Apple’s next evolution in design aesthetics. In addition, the iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to feature:
A redesigned camera island
An aluminum frame for lighter build
Reverse wireless charging support
These changes mark Apple’s continued push to offer more premium, technically advanced devices that distinguish the Pro series even further from the base models.
Apple is also diversifying its production strategy. The report mentions that all new iPhones sold in the US could soon be manufactured in India, as Foxconn is preparing to double iPhone production there—potentially up to 30 million units this year. This move not only strengthens Apple’s supply chain resilience but also helps mitigate exposure to rising tariffs and geopolitical risk.
While the price hike may raise concerns for consumers, Apple appears confident that the new features and design upgrades will provide enough value to support the increase.
